What was the highlight of Hotel Dann Monasterio
Beautiful location in the historic white city (old town) of Popayán
Breakfast was very good. We liked the great location in the historic building (ancient monastery) and in the midst of the old town of Popayán, where you can visit all touristic places by foot.
There is no car parking facility at the hotel front. The reception did not help us organising a private driver for a sight seeing tour, instead they gave us a leaflet of a travel agency.

I got an incredibly good deal to stay in unique historic surroundings.
Beautifully refurbished and maintained large 17th century convent.
The lighting in my room was too low making reading and writing difficult.

Very good first 3 days in Colombia
Very Elegant setting around a internal Courtyard The rooms were clean and spacious Dancing in the Town Square with the locals was fun
Dinner was pretty average and very slow service Not the Hotels fault but it was distressing to see a distraught Mother outside the Gates who child had just disappeared.

What was the highlight of Hotel Dann Monasterio
A very good hotel which let you step back in time.
This is an impressive-looking hotel which was a former 16th century monastery. I booked a standard twin room with 2 double beds and we ended up staying in the presidential suite! The room was big with a big window door to a huge shared balcony. The bathroom had a bath tub and all the necessary amenities. The hotel is on two floors and there is no lift (it was an old monastery and they did not have lifts in those days). However the staff were quick to carry our luggage up the stairs to our room. There is an on site restaurant in the inner court yard where we had cocktails and a light meal. The food was delicious and presented in a way befitting a five star hotel. There were fairy lights strung up and soft classical music playing, creating a very nice atmosphere. This hotel is good value for money and by far the best-looking in Popayan.
The room was quite dark. There are old-fashioned lamps that do not provide enough light. The breakfast was tasty, but a rather small variety for a five star hotel.
